Golfweek has released its rankings of the best private golf courses in each state, based on judging by its nationwide network of raters.
There is no shortage of good options for Arizona golfers, according to the rankings.
While many states have just five or 10 courses in their rankings, Arizona’s list has 20 courses.
There is no shortage of great private golf courses in the state.
Golfweek’s Top 5 private Arizona golf courses for 2023
Golfweek has Estancia in Scottsdale as the No. 1 ranked private golf course in Arizona.
No. 2 on the list is Desert Forest in Carefree.
The Other Course at Scottsdale National Golf Club comes in at No. 3.
At No. 4? The Rim in Payson.
Rounding out the top 5 in Golfweek’s list is Forest Highlands (Canyon) in Flagstaff.

How Golfweek ranked the best private golf courses
Golfweek explained its methodology for the rankings as follows:
“The hundreds of members of that ratings panel continuously evaluate courses and rate them based on 10 criteria on a points basis of 1 through 10. They also file a single, overall rating on each course. Those overall ratings are averaged to produce these rankings. All the courses on this list are private and don’t accept daily-fee or resort play.”
