However, this habit of outperforming the market may soon come to an end according to a new DigiTimes report.
The article purports that the release date of the new 14 and 16-inch MacBook Pros, which are expected to be equipped with the high-performing Apple M2 Pro and M2 Max processors, has been delayed again. DigiTimes refers to anonymous sources that no longer expect a launch in the first quarter of the current year. Unfortunately, no information or speculations are offered regarding the new time frame for the 2023 MacBook Pro launch.
Furthermore, shipments of the current MacBook Pro 14 and 16, which have been on the market for more than 450 days now, could suffer significantly from the postponed release of their respective successors. Insiders from Apple’s supply chain predict that MacBook shipments will drop by 40 to 50% in relation to the fourth quarter of 2022, which has already seen weaker demand during the usually very lucrative holiday shopping season. It remains to be seen whether Apple can stop or even reverse this downward trend with the repeatedly delayed release of the 2023 MacBook Pro with the M2 Pro and M2 Max.
