Apple says the new iPhone update has several security changes that will help protect your phone from hackers, stopping them from terminating apps and running code to spy on you.

“This update includes bug fixes and security updates and is recommended for all users,” advises Apple.

“A remote user may be able to cause unexpected app termination or arbitrary code execution.”

It’s believed that the update addresses two security flaws that were detected by Google’s Project Zero team.

Apple urges all users to install the update – which is free – as soon as possible to protect your device.

Apple added: “Keeping your software up to date is one of the most important things you can do to maintain your Apple product’s security.”
