The Toronto Maple Leafs have their fair share of celebrity fans in both the sports and entertainment realms, so it shouldn’t really be a surprise when one reps the jersey.
The latest, however, is certainly a fun one given a hockey player with the same last name has just been linked to a huge trade to the Toronto Maple Leafs.
Toronto’s star-studded cast of fans range from Adam Copeland (aka WWE’s Edge) to Mike Myers to WilI Arnett to the more obvious, given the marketing partnership and his friendship with Auston Matthews; Justin Bieber.
Despite the frequent appearances of the likes of Morgan Rielly, Mitch Marner and the aforementioned Matthews at Blue Jays and Raptors games; the sporting world hasn’t always thrown a ton of visible support behind the Leafs.
Lorie Kane Wears Toronto Maple Leafs Jersey at Final Golf Event
Lorie Kane, a Canadian Golf Hall of Famer in her final event prior to retirement from the sport absolutely knew what she was doing in repping her team on the golf course:
Some might see the fact that she’s playing golf as an insult or a slight jab in the Toronto Maple Leafs direction, but here is a sportsperson highly regarded in her chosen sport simply showing her love of the team.
Of course, the cynic in me says she did this to some extent for the attention it will inevitably garner given her shared surname with Chicago Blackhawks star winger Patrick Kane; recently attached to the Leafs in trade rumours.
She would surely have to be foolish not to realize she’s stirring the pot a little for sensationalist headlines or captions if news outlets pick up on it.
Maybe that is the aim or maybe she’s just an elite player/performer, that like Edge and Justin Bieber has a shared love of Toronto Maple Leafs hockey.
Who knows; maybe her Leafs jersey was a lucky charm over the years.
Lorie Kane retires a legend in Canadian golf, something plenty of current Toronto Maple Leafs players may hope to one day be called in regards to hockey.
It’s always great to see top-caliber names from other sporting arenas show their support; Lorie Kane is no different.
Unfortunately for long-suffering Leafs fans; contrary to any rumours, this night may well be the only time to see a Kane in a Leafs jersey.
It’s fun to say, of course, that Kane is in a Leafs jersey. It’s just a non-hockey playing one and not Patrick Kane, as many might wish!
Congratulations on your retirement from golf, Lorie Kane. You’ve been a great ambassador to the ladies game and your Toronto Maple Leafs fandom definitely cements your Hall of Fame status!
