Alogic releases new compact laptop docking stations

Alogic already has a great range of powerful docks, and now it’s released two new compact laptop docking stations – the CD2 and CH2 – globally. They feature up to 100W of power passthrough, dual 4K display, gigabit Ethernet, and a stylish brushed aluminum build.

Not all docking stations are equal; in the midst of the pandemic it may have been tempting to find a cheap USB-C hub to help you work between home and office or elsewhere, but that only leads to disappointment. Alogic has already proven its chops when it comes to making great feature-packed hardware that’s clearly been designed by real computer users for real computer users, and now the company has launched two brand new super compact – but still highly capable – docking stations, available worldwide.

You don’t want a docking station that still needs you to plug into power because it can’t charge your laptop at all, or if it does, it can’t keep pace with the rate at which you’re using your battery and you still go down. Or, that can’t support your monitor or even monitors. Or, it has no Ethernet option for the times you need it, or it comes with other constraints and limitations.

iTWire has previously looked at Alogic’s DX3 universal docking station and found it a real pleasure to use, as a complete all-in-one single-cable-to-laptop solution. Docking stations aren’t big to begin with, but it is fair to say it had a reasonable amount of size and weight and it’s not something you’d always want to be carrying around in your backpack.

Here comes the brand new Alogic compact range of laptop docking stations – the CD2 (pictured below) and CH2 (pictured above).

Alogic DUCD2

Both of the Universal Docks support either twin DisplayPort or HDMI Ports – hence the “D” or “H” in the model numbers – allowing you to connect two external displays with up to 4K 60 Hz resolutions with 100W power passthrough. You could use a set of the incredible, super-crisp Alogic 27″ Clarity monitors for example – your eyes will certainly thank you. It doesn’t matter what size your laptop is when you can convert it into an entire desktop environment with one single cable connection

The docks include DisplayLink technology, allowing you to work with either USB-C or USB-A ports on your laptops, and both docks are compatible with Windows, Chromebooks, and Apple laptops including those with Apple silicon.

Both the CD2 and CH2 docks have a comprehensive suite of high-performing ports to support the dynamic and functional workstation requirements of consumers, enterprises and educational institutions. The dock’s USB-A and USB-C ports [10Gbps USB 3.2 Gen 2] keep you connected to your essential USB accessories such as keyboards, mice, webcams, external drives, scanners, printers, and other items.

When plugged into an external USB-C power adapter the docks also provide up to 100W power delivery and gigabit Ethernet. They also include an SD 4.0/UHS-II card reader, helping creative professionals transfer large multimedia libraries between external memory and their computer.

“We are designing and introducing products focusing on compatibility and functionality to suit the dynamic needs of our users in the fast-changing world of technology,” said Alogic co-founder and global sales director Ritesh Kumar. “The CD2 and CH2 compact, 4k Universal Docking Stations are designed to make every desk set-up more functional, flexible and productive, offering a variety of ports to suit user’s connectivity requirements.”

The CD2 and CH2 docking stations are available now within Australia for $299.95, and also around the world.

Features include:

  • Cohesive port extension technology with up to 100W power passthrough
  • Universal compatibility with dual 4k display output to provide a seamless workstation connectivity experience
  • These compact dual-display universal docking stations allow users to extend or mirror the laptop to a multi-screen, multi-functional desk set-up including M1 and M2 MacBooks
  • Fast Gigabit Ethernet connectivity
  • Brushed aluminum finish, compact docks, ideal for pick and go as well as home and office desk set-ups
