Alex Rodriguez’s Father Revealed Why His $252 Million MLB Contract Didn’t Matter While Reconciling With the New York Yankees Star

New York Yankees icon Alex Rodriguez had seen only two dreams growing up. He wanted to play professional baseball and become a successful businessman. Looking at him now, he made both of those dreams come true and became one of the wealthiest retired players in the history of Major League Baseball.

But he didn’t grow up with money. Growing up, his father left, and his mother being a single parent took care of the kids. It was tough growing up, for Alex. Things took a major turn in his life when he signed a $252 million for 10 years contract with Texas Rangers. Post-signing the biggest contract in the history of baseball at that time, Rodriguez had his father contact him.

Speculations started getting around that the motive of Alex’s father, Victor, for coming back into his son’s life was related to money matters. But A-Rod did not think so. But he was pretty sure that his father did not reconnect with him because he was after his money. His father had similar thoughts on it.

What did Alex Rodriguez say about his father?

Alex met his father for the first time after separation on father’s day weekend of 2000 in Miami. Back then, Alex was playing with the Mariners, and they were in Miami to play against the Twins. Alex didn’t forgive his father right then and there, but it had to take some time.

In an interview with the Post, Rodriguez talked about how his father had nothing to do with the biggest contract that he signed. In his words, “Never. To this day, if I was to give him a dollar bill, he would probably get upset.”

Victor’s words were pretty much the same on the topic. He said that meeting Alex again was a good thing but he wasn’t born like it. “I wasn’t born like that, and I still think the same way, and I will be the same way until the last day that I live,” said Victor when Alex talked on the topic.

All in all, they both seem pretty confident that he hadn’t reconciled with his son because of how much money he was earning.

How did Rodriguez reconnect with his father?

The credit for making the father and son meet again goes to Alex’s ex-wife, Cynthia Scurtis. She wanted Alex to have to make his decision about his father as an adult.
