Car maker brings back iconic Dutch daredevil granny for the electric vehicle age.
Volkswagen has revived its iconic 2010 Dutch commercial which follows the story of a daredevil old lady selling her Golf.
The ‘Buying a Volkswagen from an Old Lady’ campaign is the car manufacturer’s most popular to date. The original ad features a shy old lady who goes to sell her Golf which is then quality tested by potential buyers, as they inspect the car the viewers see flashbacks to the old lady driving her Golf like a race car. ‘Not every old lady is trustworthy – luckily every Golf is’, was the strapline for the 2010 ad.
The latest installment ‘Bring Back the Energy’ picks up the story after the old woman sells her Golf and shows her yearning to be reunited with the Volkswagen vehicle. To replace the hole in her life she goes down to a dealership to test the electric ID.4 GTX and test drives it like a maniac.
