Games and Ironbird Creations have officially announced that they are working on a new project called Phantom Hellcat, an action-adventure platformer game set in a colorful fantasy world where players will unravel a sinister secret. It will launch for Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, and PC via Steam.
The publisher’s internal studio Ironbird Creations has not given a firm release date for their latest project, which appears promising at first glance. Players can now add the Nier: Automata-inspired Phantom Hellcat to their wishlist on Steam to get notified of when it launches.
The announcement came as part of Gamescom’s Opening Night Live, which also features plenty of other exciting reveals such as Moonbreaker, Atlas Fallen, and more. As for the game itself, Phantom Hellcat is a perspective-changing action platformer game that emphasizes its vibrant world filled with various enemies, preventing your combat experience from being monotonous. As the plot develops, the adult female protagonist, Jolene, whose mother was abducted by demons, will set out on a new mission to save her while also uncovering a hidden secret.
According to the developer team, players can create electrifying combos in a theatrical setting to take down their enemies while using their surroundings as a deadly weapon. As you can expect from a platformer game, slide and dash abilities will be the key part of the gameplay. The protagonist will also have a mask that gives her new powers when it is upgraded. Different camera angles aim to create a unique platformer experience. Additionally, players will use a skill tree to choose their battle approach. Last but not least for the gameplay, Phantom Hellcat offers epic boss fights that require players to change their play style according to the enemies.
