Acer Nitro XV5: New gaming monitor series showcased with 200 Hz refresh rates

Acer has shed light on the Nitro XV5, a gaming monitor series that will be available later this month. According to the company, the series will start with two 27-inch editions, both of which rely on 27-inch IPS panels. Acer will distinguish the pair by native resolution, with one operating at 1440p and the other at 4K. While the pair will also offer 144 Hz and 160 Hz refresh rates, respectively, both support overclocking to 200 Hz.

Supposedly, overclocking the monitors reduces their response times to 0.5 ms too; Acer has not confirmed whether it has measured these response times using GTG or MPRT, though. Regardless, Acer boasts that the Nitro XV5 series supports AMD FreeSync Premium as well as minimizing image tearing and HDMI 2.1 connectivity for use with current generation games consoles and high-end graphics cards. Seemingly, Acer has implemented full bandwidth HDMI 2.1 ports, with 4K and 120 Hz gaming supported.

Moreover, the Nitro XV5 series will ship with a USB hub that can recharge devices at 65 W via USB Type-C. Acer adds that the USB hub works with a KVM switch for peripherals and sits above an adjustable stand, plus VESA 75 x 75 mm wall mount connectors. The Nitro XV5 series will be available later this month in the Eurozone. So far, Acer has confirmed that the monitor series will start at €399, which likely only applies to the QHD model.
