A quarter of laptop sales in Western Europe have sold down

Canalys published the results of a study into the personal computer market in Western Europe in the second quarter of this year. The industry saw a significant decline in value, which is explained by the aforementioned restrictions in China, as well as the current geopolitical situation and the high inflation rate.

From March through June, 12.3 million desktop computers, workstations and computers were sold around the country. This is 18.5% less than the same time last year.

The Chinese company Lenovo has a share of 30.9%. HP shares 24.5%, and Dell closes the top three with 13.8%. There were also Acer and Apple, the results of which were 8.2 and 6.4% respectively. All of these companies have a sales drop year on year.

If we compared the laptop segment only, the sales had gone down by a quarter (26%), the volume of shipments at 9.5 million units. In the desktop sector, there were 22% jumps to 2.7 million units.

As well as reports, sales of tablets in the European market in the second quarter soared to 5.9 million units. This is 24.3% less than that of the last half of 2021. The top three are: Apple (37.7%), Samsung (21.8%) and Lenovo (46.7%).
