FRISCO, Texas — Dallas Stars General Manager Jim Nill announced today that the club has signed a forward Jason Robertson to a four-year contract, which will run through the 2025-26 season. The four-year contract is worth $31 million and has an average annual value (AAV) of $7.75 million.
“Jason is an integral part of the present and future of our team and we’re thrilled to have him for the next four years,” said Nill. “Since he was drafted by our organization, he has worked tirelessly to become a better player every day. His knack for scoring goals and seeing plays develop on the ice are just some of the tremendous assets that he brings to our team. He is one of the best young players in the NHL and we look forward to seeing him continue to progress.”
Robertson, 23, finished the 2021-22 season with 41 goals and 38 assists for a total of 79 points, setting new career-highs in each category. His 41 goals led Dallas and tied for 13th in the NHL. He recorded 13 of his goals on the power play, ranking first on the squad and sharing 15th in the League. Robertson is the fourth player in Dallas history and the 12th player in franchise history to record 40 goals in a season and the first since Tyler Seguin did so in 2017-18. He hit the mark on April 26, 2022, at 22 years, 278 days, becoming the youngest player in Stars history to accomplish the feat. Robertson tied a franchise record with 11 game-winning goals, co-leading the League and ranking first on the Stars.
Playing in his 100th NHL game on March 4, 2022, the sophomore established a new Dallas record with 97 points (43-54=97) through his first 100 games. In his 101st NHL game two nights later, Robertson recorded his 100th NHL point (46-54=100), becoming the fourth-fastest player in franchise history to hit the mark. He finished the 2021-22 campaign having played in 128 career NHL games and a total of 125 points (58-67=125).
As a rookie in 2020-21, Robertson recorded 45 points (17-28=45) in 51 games, earning the second highest total by a rookie in Dallas Stars history and earning a nomination for the Calder Memorial Trophy.
Robertson has twice represented the United States on the international stage, earning a silver medal at the 2019 World Junior Championship (1-6=7 points in seven games) and winning bronze at the 2021 IIHF World Championship (4-5=9 points in 10 games).
The 6-foot-3, 200-pound native of Arcadia, California was originally selected by the Stars in the second round (39th overall) of the 2017 NHL Draft.
