CAMDEN — The Boston Celtics and VistaPrint, in partnership with the NAACP, have awarded a $25,000 grant to LooHoo Wool Dryer Balls.
The Power Forward Small Business Grant aims to create a lasting impact through the economic empowerment of Black-owned small businesses throughout New England. LooHoo was one of 14 recipients in the third round of the grant, which was established in September 2021 thanks to a combined commitment of $1 million by the Boston Celtics Shamrock Foundation and VistaPrint. Winners were notified Thursday Sept. 15, 2022.
In addition to the grant, LooHoo will be featured on national co-branded platforms and will receive customized marketing and design resources from VistaPrint to help its business grow and thrive.
“I’m so incredibly grateful to be awarded this grant,” says owner Cyndi Prince, in a news release. “It means the world to me that the Boston Celtics, VistaPrint and the NAACP believe in my company and our mission and see the potential in me and LooHoo.”
The grant will be used to help LooHoo scale-up its manufacturing process and hire additional employees to help with production, according to Prince. In addition to wool dryer balls, LooHoo’s product line includes all-natural pet toys and laundry bags and thoughtfully curated gift boxes.
Based in Camden, Maine, LooHoo was among the first companies to offer a healthy alternative to toxic dryer sheets. Launched in 2010, LooHoo Wool Dryer Balls are now sold in more than 300 retail outlets throughout North America, including select Whole Foods Markets. For more information, visit Loo-Hoo.com.
