Greatest sports prediction of all time or proof that MLB is scripted to improve storylines?

  • by

MLB Network host Greg Amsinger went viral Friday night when St. Louis Cardinals slugger Albert Pujols joined the exclusive 700 home run club.

Amsinger shockingly and accurately predicted months earlier that Pujols would hit him 700th career homer on the road in Los Angeles against his former team.

Friday night, Pujols did just that, smashing a couple balls into the stands for his home runs No. 699 and 700.

Amsinger’s prediction was on April 13, even stating that Pujols would reach homer No. 700 on a Friday night in the month of September.

The only part Amsinger got wrong was that the pitch would be thrown by Pujols’ former Los Angeles Dodgers teammate Clayton Kershaw.

Is the MLB rigged or scripted?

When predictions such as this one come true, especially derived from a source close to the league, conspiracy theories of rigged MLB games start to fly around the internet.

While it’s hard to fathom Amsinger making such an accurate prediction, it’s no more than that.

He imagined the most romantic scenario for Pujols getting the 700th home run of his career and it came true.

It would be logistically impossible for the league to create epic storylines year after year.

The beauty of sports is that no matter the outcome, somebody will always be getting a storybook ending.
