Jalen Ramsey reacts to Rams’ win, other NFL storylines on his podcast

  • by

Jalen Ramsey is treating fans to his unfiltered thoughts after each game this season, hosting his own new podcast called “Straight Off The Press.” He dropped the second episode on Monday night, one day after the Los Angeles Rams beat the Atlanta Falcons and he was in a good mood coming off the win.

Ramsey broke down the game, including his game-sealing interception, but he’s also still mad he dropped a would-be pick-six before halftime.

“I did drop a pick. It was gonna be a pick-six, too,” he said. “I’m trippin’, I know I’m trippin’. It was crazy, right before the game, I told our safety Nick Scott. I said, ‘Nick, they got about 5, 6 seconds on the clock, I think they might try to get a little extra room before they try to kick a field goal or take the top off and go to the end zone for the last play.’ I said, ‘If they run an out route, I’m gonna jump it.’ That’s exactly what I did. They ran an out route, I didn’t need much backpedal, I jumped it and tried to catch it like that instead of trying to catch it with some aggressive hands, runnin’ through it. Could’ve had a pick-six to end the half off.”

Additionally, Ramsey reacted to some of the biggest storylines from Sunday’s action around the NFL. He couldn’t believe the Jets came back to beat the Browns, and he was equally surprised the Cardinals pulled off their miraculous comeback against the Raiders. The fact that the Rams and Cardinals both won in Week 2 gives their upcoming matchup on Sunday some extra juice.

“I’m sure they’re juiced up,” he said. “The last play of the game was a touchdown to win the game. I’m sure they’re juiced up. I saw them throwing their helmets off. They’re turned up, they’re hyped. That’s who we got next week. They gonna be hyped, we gonna be hyped, both coming off wins, our first wins of the season. We travel to Arizona, it means a little bit more, trust me.”

Ramsey also hates to see the injury suffered by Trey Lance, breaking his ankle against the Seahawks. Jimmy Garoppolo stepped in and played well, and he’ll be the 49ers’ starter the rest of the season. Ramsey said they look smart for keeping Garoppolo around.

“To see him get injured like this in Week 2, man, that sucks,” he said. “But if you think about it, I guess keeping Jimmy G was a very smart decision for them.”
