September 19, 2022 – MLB Tonight, MLB Network’s Emmy-award-winning nightly program, will provide an unprecedented behind-the-scenes look into how the show is produced during its live telecast, Sept. 20 at 6 pm ET. MLB Network’s Greg Amsinger, Scott Braun, Sierra Santos, Cliff Floyd, This is Plesac and Harold Reynolds will take viewers into the areas that help bring the show to life, including the production and graphics control rooms, plus highlights center. The program will feature real-time conversations among the production team, technical crew and on-air personalities as they work together to execute the live show in Studio 3 and Studio 42.
“Viewers have a natural curiosity about what goes into creating a live MLB Tonight,” she said Josh Bernstein, MLB Network Vice President of Production. “We want to peel back the curtain and show a rarely seen look at the preparation and teamwork it takes from everyone on the MLB Tonight staff. Our fans always just see the finished product of a studio demonstration or highlight breakdown, so we’re excited to show frenetic process and behind-the-scenes machinations in producing this entertaining and informative show.”
The program will feature a new drone tour of MLB Network, plus clips from the pre-show production meeting. With more than 100 production personnel contributing to an MLB Tonight program, eight graphics engines are utilized, plus 42 unique video feeds are sent to 68 separate on-set monitors in both studios.
The special behind-the-scenes edition of MLB Tonight will air from 6 to 8 pm ET, with the first hour on MLB Network, plus MLBNetwork.com, MLB.com, and MLB Network’s Twitter and YouTube channels. As MLB Tonight begins at 7 pm ET, the behind-the-scenes edition will continue exclusively on the digital platforms, providing viewers an inside look into the control room communication in real-time during the show.
Now in its 14th season, MLB Tonightfeaturing look-ins of live games, analysis and highlights, has won the National Sports Emmy Award for Outstanding Daily Studio Show seven different times.
