BostonBruins.com – The B’s fought hard in their Prospects Challenge matchup vs. the Pittsburgh Penguins on Saturday afternoon at LECOM Harborcenter in Buffalo, NY, overcoming a four-goal deficit, before ultimately falling short in a 6-4 setback.
After falling behind, 4-0, the B’s began to claw back midway through the second with Rookie Camp invitee Ryan Humphrey putting them on the board by redirecting a shot by Jacob Wilson.
“I was a late invite,” Humphrey told the media post game. “I’m just trying to make the most of it.”

Humphrey’s goal was followed by another tally Curtis Hallwho wore the ‘A’ on his jersey along with Wilson and Marc McLaughlin.
It was a slow start for both teams to start off the third, but Humphrey struck again early in the third, cutting the Penguins’ lead to 4-3 with 16 minutes left to play. Just 27 seconds later, Johnny Beecher was in the right place to finish off a rocket off the post from Luke Toporowski to tie up the game, 4-4.
Beecher said post game that he is looking ahead to training camp, saying the real game pace is beneficial for many reasons.
“It’s a whole different animal playing a game,” said Beecher. “So, having the experience playing games already going into training camp then leading into preseason will be huge.”

Unfortunately the tie didn’t last long, with the Penguins finding more success on the power play to give them the lead 5-4 with 10:47 left to go. Pittsburgh added one more marker to secure a 6-4 win with five of its six goals coming on the power play.
The B’s play their last game of the Prospects Challenge on Monday morning at 10 am vs. the New Jersey Devils.
