Kyrou signs 8-year extension with Blues

Jordan Kyrou is going to be wearing a Blue Note for a long time.

On Tuesday, Kyrou signed a new eight-year contract extension with the St. Louis Blues.

The deal – which features the same terms and financials contract Robert Thomas signed in July – is worth $65 million ($8.125 AAV) and will begin with the 2023-24 season, keeping Kyrou in St. Louis through 2030-31.

“We’re playing for today and building for the future, and having those two guys signed is the cornerstone of what we’re trying to accomplish moving forward,” Blues General Manager Doug Armstrong said. “It’s great news for the organization.”

Kyrou had a breakout season in 2021-22, posting 75 points (27 goals, 48 ​​assists) in 74 regular-season games. He finished fourth on the team in points, third in goals and second in assists.

His performance in the first half of last season earned him a place at the 2022 NHL All-Star Weekend in Las Vegas, where he captured the League’s Fastest Skater title by completing a lap in 13.55 seconds to finish ahead of three-time winner Connor McDavid. of the Edmonton Oilers. He then netted two goals and three assists in the All-Star 3-on-3 division tournament.

In the 2022 Stanley Cup Playoffs, Kyrou ranked second on the club with seven goals in 12 postseason appearances.

Overall, Kyrou has amassed 122 points (46 goals, 76 assists) in his NHL career, which has spanned 173 regular-season games.
