Former 7 ft NBA Champion’s Impersonation of Millionaire Arnold Schwarzenegger Once Left Hosts a Podcast in Splits

NBA legend Dirk Nowitzki once made his best impression of Hollywood superstar Arnold Schwarzenegger. And the hosts could not control their laughter. Nowitzki is one of the funniest basketball stars. In 2014, he made an appearance on the Dan Patrick show via a phone call. The host, Dan Patrick, asked him whether he could do a Schwarzenegger impression. And the Dallas Mavericks superstar did not even think twice before giving his best shot at it. The former governor of California has given many iconic scenes to fans around the world.

And Nowitzki chose the iconic scene from the blockbuster 1987 movie, ‘Predator’. “Get to the chopper now!”, grunted Nowitzki. And the hosts were in splits with his ultimate impression of the 7-time Mr. Olympic winner. However, no one was sure which movie it was from. And when they asked Nowitzki about it, he said that he forgot which movie it was.

Dirk Nowitzki had a mind-blowing 21-year-long NBA career where he played only for the Mavericks. However, he was not drafted by the Mavs. The Milwaukee Bucks selected the German as the 9th pick of the 1998 NBA draft. Much like Arnold Schwarzenegger, Nowitzki came from a foreign country and became a legend.

Dirk Nowitzki grabbed the eyes of the NBA world during his 4-year stint with the German basketball club DJK Würzburg. He then declared for the 1998 NBA draft and was projected to go high because of his unbelievable potential. The Bucks drafted him but immediately traded him to the Mavericks. Initially, the towering center struggled to adjust to life in the NBA. He struggled to find his feet in the most competitive league in the world.

His rookie season was nothing spectacular as he averaged 8.2 points, 3.4 rebounds, and 1 assist per game. However, things changed in his sophomore year as he doubled almost every stat. In his second season, he averaged 17.5 points, 6.5 rebounds, and 2.5 assists per game. He also played all 82 games of the season with improved minutes.

He continued his improvement and in 2002 got his first ever all-star call-up. He would eventually get 14 NBA all-star selections. And he consistently led his team to the playoffs almost every season. Then in 2006, he helped the Mavs to their first ever NBA Finals against the Miami Heat. And many fans tipped the experienced Mavs to clinch the title. However, young superstar Dwyane Wade pulled off one of the best Finals performances ever to lead the Heat to the win. Wade averaged a mindboggling 34.7 points in the finals.

However, Nowitzki would return the favor several years later in 2011 when the Mavs faced the Heat again in the Finals. This time, the Heat were stronger with the big three of Wade, LeBron James, and Chris Bosh. But they couldn’t stop Nowitzki and the Mavs from clinching their first-ever title.
