Early access New Zealand release date trick & how it usually works

  • by

The release date for when NBA 2K23 will come out is September 9th, but fans on Xbox may be able to play early access provided the typical New Zealand release time trick works.

There’s lots to look forward to in the build-up to the game’s launch. Take-Two Interactive has already revealed the soundtrack which has Megan Thee Stallion and 50+ other artists, and soon they will also reveal the long-anticipated player ratings.

We cannot wait to don jerseys and explore the City once again, and players on Xbox may be able to do it a day earlier than everyone else.

How to play NBA 2K23 early

There is no official early access for NBA 2K23but fans may be able to play a day earlier if the New Zealand release date and time trick works again.

The trick has always worked for the series before, and it simply requires fans on Xbox to pre-order the game normally, and then follow the steps below:

  • Select Settings
  • Click System
  • Proceed to Language and Location
  • Change Location to New Zealand
  • Reset Xbox console

There is a NZ trick for PlayStation, too, but it’s ultimately not worth it. You’d have to create a separate NZ Profile, and you’d have to pay more to buy gift cards from PC Game Supply.

New Zealand release time

The PSN store says the New Zealand release date and time for NBA 2K23 is 00:00 NZST, which suggests the early access trick on Xbox will work.

Provided the PSN store is accurate, the NZ launch time translates to 05:00 PT, 08:00 ET, and 13:00 BST on September 8th for the United States and United Kingdom. Lots of people have shared on Twitter and Reddit that they plan to exploit the trick, and there are also video guides on YouTube.

However, a few have claimed that the Microsoft store indicates a universal release of 21:00 PT on September 8th, and 00:00 ET and 05:00 BST on September 9th. We haven’t found any evidence of this on the Microsoft store and PSN suggests the exact opposite, but – if true – it will prevent the NZ exploit from working.

If the NZ exploit does not work as usual with the series before, make sure not to buy any VC, and know that your VC pre-order bonuses will not work until the official release time in your own region.
