Edwin Diaz the ‘official’ MLB ‘Narco’ user

  • by

The Dutch DJ duo behind Citi Field favorite “Narco” endorse Edwin Diaz’s exclusive use of their viral hit song with Timmy Trumpet.

Idir Makhlaf, one of the two members of Blasterjaxx, told MLB Network that any other player using the song as his walkup music, such as catcher William Contreras of the Braves, should find another tune.

“For us, Edwin is the official one, that’s for sure,” Makhlaf said on MLB Network’s “Off Base” program this week. “You can’t have more, right? That’s impossible. You have to choose your own song.”

Makhlaf and partner Thom Jongkind told The Post’s “Amazin’ But True” podcast with Jake Brown and former Mets pitcher Nelson Figueroa last month that they are trying to arrange Visa paperwork to travel from The Netherlands to New York later this season, possibly during the postseason .

Timmy Trumpet, their collaborator on the song, was in attendance at Citi Field for two games earlier this week and played his “Narco” trumpet part while Diaz ran in from the bullpen during Wednesday’s game against the Dodgers. Diaz didn’t pitch the previous night, but Trumpet played “Take Me Out to the Ballgame” during the seventh-inning stretch.

“I tried to look up a little bit when I was running to see how the reaction was from the fans, so I looked up and it was pretty fun,” Diaz said after Wednesday’s game. “I could feel the vibe from the fans. They were really excited.

“He said he would come back to play in the World Series again.”
