Led by medalist Savannah Van Gaalen, Turlock High’s girls golf team placed first Monday at the 22-team event, hosted by Hilmar High School and played at Turlock Golf and Country Club.
The Bulldogs were 34 strokes clear of second-place Oakdale (354) and 43 shots ahead of third-place Union Mine (363).
Host Hilmar (409) placed seventh, while Pitman (463) finished 14th.
Van Gaalen shot a 3-under-par 69, a round that included an eagle, four birdies and three bogeys.
Turlock’s Sydney Streeter, the reigning Central California Athletic League MVP, carded a 67, good for sixth-place overall.
The Bulldogs also got an 84 from Isabella Down and matching 90s from Reece Benjamin and Natalia Lightfoot.
“Savannah and Sydney led the way,” said Turlock coach Mary Krupka. “But it was really nice to see Reece and Natalia shoot 90s to help the team win the tournament.”
Dowd shot a 37 on the front nine, but slipped to a 47 on the back.
“Isabella said that she let her emotions get the best of her,” Krupka said. “I love that she recognizes this and is willing to work on it for the team.”
Hilmar’s Emily Cogswell shot an 88 for the hosts, while Pitman’s Monet Sayadia shot a 91.
Turlock will see action again Thursday when it opens CCAL play against Enochs at Creekside Golf Course in Modesto.
