Patience is key for any Major League hitter, but especially the best in the business.
The willingness to draw walks and not go swinging at terrible pitches outside of the strike zone is what sets a lot of the best hitters apart from the rest of the league.
It’s a trait you want your best hitters to have.
The Minnesota Twins are lucky to have a hitter who displays such a trait.
Luis Arraez, to this point in the season, has posted the lowest strikeout rate among qualified hitters in all of baseball at 7.3%.
Steven Kwan and Jose Ramirez of the Cleveland Guardians have the second and third lowest rates with 9.6% and 10.2%, respectively.

Arraez Shows Patience At The Plate
That is exactly what you want to see out of Arraez if you’re the Twins.
Arraez has been one of the top hitters in all of baseball this season.
At one point in the season, he even had the best batting average in all of baseball.
The Twins’ slugging first baseman is hitting .318 with seven home runs and 41 RBI.
Sometimes, young players can be very free swingers, but Arraez is very reserved.
The 25-year-old is a smart hitter who makes sure he gets a good pitch to hit before swinging.
That’s something that isn’t always very common with younger hitters.
Arraez has been a patient hitter all year long who doesn’t strike out very much.
He’s been a major key to the Twins’ success this season and has been something of a catalyst.
Keeping the strikeouts down has helped Arraez become one of baseball’s best hitters.
His trademark patience has put him in the lead for an all-important category.
We’ll see how his approach serves him for the rest of the season.
