Big deal in the NBA: Bradley Beal renews with Wizards for five years and 251 million dollars

Bradley Beal has put pen to paper on a new five-year, 251 million dollar contract with the Washington Wizards.

After playing 10 seasons with the Wizardsthe All-Star shooting guard had the opportunity to end his spell at the Washington franchise and try his luck elsewhere, but he agreed to a maximum contract.

Many basketball fans expected him to sign for another team in pursuit of an NBA ring, as he has only played in the playoffs five times and has never made it past the conference semi-finals.

“People always look at me like I’m crazy, but I have a huge desire to make it work here and win here,” Beal said.

“This is the team that drafted me. They’re super loyal, I have a great relationship with ownership, and a great relationship with our front office.

“Plus, there’s not a lot of chances in the careers of NBA players to be noted as the franchise guy, you know?

“To be able to have that opportunity, to be able to be in a position where I can write my own story, that’s everything.”

Bradley Beal’s goal is to win the NBA with Washington

Although it may seem as an impossible task for the time being, Beal did not hesitate to indicate that his objective is to lead the Wizards all the way to the NBA title.

“I feel like if I win a championship here in DC, the grind of it, with everything I’ve been through, all the adversity and ups and downs, that would make a win that much sweeter, make me appreciate it that much more “, he added.

“And I do love the grind, and sometimes go against the odds.”

Last season was not the best in his NBA career, as he played 40 games and averaged 23.2 points. But in the two seasons prior to 2021/22, Beal averaged over 30 points.
