This week, Microsoft launched the latest in the Surface family of dynamic laptops: the Surface Laptop Studio. Built as the discernibly more laptop-y older sibling of the Surface Pro 8 (PCMag’s Editors’ Choice for hybrid laptops), the Surface Laptop studio is aimed at developers, designers, and gamers alike. Microsoft is aiming to give one device the power of a desktop, the portability of a laptop, and a creative studio all in one.
The first thing you’ll notice is the new flexibility of the ultra-durable Dynamic Woven Hinge. The laptop can effortlessly transition between three different modes: A traditional Laptop Mode, the screen-forward Stage Mode, and Tablet Mode. All different methods of viewing what is possibly its strongest feature: The 14.4” 120Hz touch screen display Something that laptop gamers will certainly appreciate. Another ground breaking new addition is the haptic touchpad which gives a real tactile sensation that feels like we’ll see a lot more of in the future.
The Surface Laptop Studio comes in four different configurations of 11th Gen Intel® Core™ H35 processors, NVIDIA® GeForce RTX™ GPUs, and Removable SSD options of 256 GB, 512 GB, 1TB, and 2TB.
