Women’s Soccer to Take on Oral Roberts on Sunday

CONWAY, Ark. – Back on the road after claiming a win in their home debut, the Bears hit the road again, going to Tulsa, Okla., for a battle against Oral Roberts on Sunday. Match time against Golden Eagles is set for 5 pm at the Case Soccer Complex.

Last time out for the women’s soccer team was an unmitigated success, as the team racked up three goals against Little Rock en route to head coach Jeremy Bishop‘s 100th win with the program. Already Central Arkansas’ all-time leader in wins, Bishop looks to add to the tally on Sunday.

Three Bears scored against the Trojans, with Taylor Lassiter scoring the lone goal of the first half. After Little Rock tied the score in the 67thth minutes, Tristyn Pavatt and Kelly Van Gundy each put home goals of their own, icing the win for Central Arkansas’ first win of the year.

Between the pipes, Keyla Perez played a terrific first half, recording four saves while keeping the Trojans scoreless. The junior keeper has yet to allow a goal this season, playing 45 minutes against Little Rock and 45 against Missouri State.

Matches against Oral Roberts have gone heavily in favor of Central Arkansas over the last few contests. The Bears, claiming the last four meetings between the teams, have outscored the Golden Eagles 16-5 over those four matches. Also of note, three Bears on the roster this season have goals against the Golden Eagles, with Lassiter, Gracie Hair and Taylor Webb all notching goals in previous outings.

Oral Roberts enters the game with a 2-1 record, all three games going down as shutouts. With a pair of home games against Texas A&M-Commerce and Northwestern Oklahoma State in the books, the Golden Eagles outscored those two teams 11-0 on their home field. NW Oklahoma St., the most recent match for Oral Roberts, finished 7-0, with Annaliese Giusto tallying a hat trick in the first 20 minutes of the match.

The loss on ORU’s schedule came courtesy of North Texas, who beat the Golden Eagles 4-0 last Sunday. Six ORU players have scored goals this season, with four of them tallying multiple scores. Oral Roberts was selected sixth in the Summit League’s preseason poll, after posting a 6-10-2 record last season.

First touch against the Golden Eagles is set for 5 pm on Sunday. The game will be broadcast on the ORU Sports Network, with live stats available here.
