EARLIER STORY:

MOBILE, Ala. (WALA) – Officials on both sides of the bay are monitoring streets experiencing flooding or water over the roadway from persistent rains deluging the region.

On Thursday afternoon, the Mobile County Department of Public Works closed Hall Road between Crawford Lane and US 90 near the Mississippi state line in Grand Bay due to flooding. The road is impassable and should be avoided until the waters recede, officials said.

Earlier in the day, the department also closed Potter Tract Road between Hugh Fort Road and McClinton Road as well as Four Mile Road at Alabama 188 due to high water.

The public works department is evaluating road conditions throughout the county and urges residents to use caution as more roads in low-lying areas may experience flooding due to this week’s significant rainfall.

In Baldwin County, the Foley Police Department on Thursday put out a list of streets experiencing flooding or some water over the roadway.

The department warns that there may be other areas/streets in the city that are flooded but are not included on this list. Officials ask people to “please use caution while driving throughout the entire city.”
