The NFL regular season is just one week away. But as teams scramble to get their final rosters ready for competition, Broncos coach Nathaniel Hackett is taking a different approach.
Hackett has held most starters, including new quarterback Russell Wilson, out for Denver’s first two preseason games. And although the Broncs will get one more chance to introduce their star to the Denver faithful on Saturday, Hackett is sticking to his guns.
“I would say right now, unless some things change—just like last week—a couple of guys [will play] talking with them. But for me, you lose two guys for an extended period just in this Bills game, I don’t want it to be anybody that could potentially be in that Seattle game,” Hackett said.
The final clash between the Vikings and Broncos loses its luster a bit without the likes of Wilson, Javonte Williams and Justin Simmons playing. But with a pair of first-year coaches on the sidelines in Hackett and Minnesota’s Kevin O’Connell, Saturday’s affair could provide the sort of tactical tune-up that can go far when the lights are really on.
The spirals should be a bit tighter, the routes a bit crisper. With one week of preparation left until the big thing, it’s time for Hackett and O’Connell’s teams to show they have what it takes to push themselves up the league’s totem pole.

The Broncos vs. Vikings game will be broadcast live on NFL Network across the US The game will also be broadcast locally on KTVD (Denver) and FOX 9 (Minnesota).
NFL Network has not yet announced the announcing lineup for the game. However, those closer to the Denver area will get Steve Levy and Brian Griese on the call. Meanwhile, those hailing from parts closer to Minnesota will hear Paul Allen and Pete Bercich.
Saturday’s game will also be available on live stream through NFL+, the NFL’s new streaming service that replaced NFL Game Pass. A yearlong subscription to NFL+ costs $39.99, although the streaming platform does offer a seven-day free trial.
Fans can also follow along with the action on fuboTV, which offers a free trial. Canadian viewers can purchase a subscription from DAZN to tap into the enthralling affair from Empower Field at Mile High, too.
Broncos vs. Vikings start time

Saturday’s game between the Broncos and Vikings will kick off at 9 pm ET. It’s the latest game of the day, and part of a three-game slate offered on NFL Network on Saturday (along with Jags vs. Falcons at 3 pm ET and Rams vs. Bengals at 6 pm ET).
Saturday’s contest represents the last game before Denver and Minnesota kick off their 2022 NFL seasons. The Vikings host Green Bay on Sept. 11 (4:25 p.m. ET), while the Broncos travel to Seattle on Sept. 12 to take on the Seahawks (8:25 p.m. ET).
