Hentrich named Eagles Women’s Golf Coach

MADISON, Wis.- Edgewood College’s search for a new head women’s golf coach has turned up a candidate close to home. The Eagles have named alumnus Josh Hentrich to take over the Eagles women’s golf program.

“It is always exciting when we have the opportunity to hire an alum.” said Eagles Director of Athletics Al Brisack. “Even more so, when the alum understands what it takes for teams to be successful here, has demonstrated a commitment to the College and has a high skill level in teaching the game. We are fortunate to find all of that in Josh. I have no doubt that our players will reach their full potential under his guidance and have a great time doing it. Tim Alexander organized the program to be built upon and we are grateful for that. Josh is the right person to build it up. I am excited for the future of our Women’s Golf Program.”

Hentrich is quite familiar with Edgewood College, having graduated in 2021 with a bachelor’s degree in business after spending four seasons as a member of the Edgewood College Men’s Golf team. Hentrich ended his career as an Eagle with the fourth-best average (77.02) in Edgewood College Men’s Golf history. Hentrich was a four-time NACC Scholar-Athlete, twice named Srixon/Cleveland Golf All-American Scholar, and named All-NACC after a second place finish at the 2018-19 NACC Championship.

“As a recent graduate from Edgewood College and a former member of the Edgewood College Men’s Golf team I could not think of a better place for me to start my coaching career.” Hentrich said. “The Edgewood College golf program means a lot to me and to now be involved as head coach is an extremely exciting opportunity.”

Hentrich has vast experience in the golf world outside of Edgewood College. He worked at the Legend of Bergamont in Oregon, Wisconsin. Hentrich has spent the majority of his time as a staff in the pro shop, but also has experience with outside service.

Prior to his time at Edgewood College, Hentrich was a three-sport athlete at Lancaster High School, earning a total of nine varsity letters in golf, football, and basketball. Throughout his decorated career, he has been named conference player of the year, is a four-time First Team All-Conference selection, named Academic All-State four times, top-25 at state four times, including a top-10 performance, one state team championship, and two-time regional tournament champion.
