United Soccer Coaches Name Caliskan to Hermann Watch List

KANSAS CITY, Mo., — The United Soccer Coaches announced the 38 players named to the 2022 edition of the Mac Hermann Trophy Watch List, with Lions senior midfielder Noel Caliskan being named among them.

The Hermann Trophy is held annually awarded to the National Player of the Year as voted on by Division I members of United Soccer Coaches and is the nation’s highest award.

Of the 38 members on the preseason watch list, 11 were named All-Americans including Caliskan.

In the spring 2021 season, Caliskan was named a Mac Hermann Trophy semifinalist.

Caliskan has a storied career at LMU, racking up nine assists and six goals in 47 matches in three seasons for the Lions. He played an integral role in the spring 2021 unbeaten season and West Coast Conference title with two goals and three assists. He also led the team in points in the fall 2021 season that included 12 wins.

The awards are stacking up for Caliskan, who has earned back-to-back WCC Player of the Year Honors, multiple All-West Region Honors, the inaugural WCC Midfielder of the Year Award, All-WCC Honors in each season at LMU, a one-time second-team All-American and has been named to Top Drawer Soccer’s Best XII second team once.

He added another award on Tuesday, being named to Top Drawer Soccer’s Best XII First Team.
