St. Louis Cardinals slugger Albert Pujols is in his own quest for history.
He has a chance of being just the fourth major league player to hit at least 700 home runs: Barry Bonds, Henry Aaron, and Babe Ruth are the others.
Pujols is fifth in the all-time leaderboard in home runs: Alex Rodriguez, with 696, is the only other name ahead of him.
Since he said before the year that this would be his last MLB campaign, Pujols only has a little over a month to chase that elusive 700th career dinger.
He started the season needing 21 to get there, and already has 14: with seven additional round-trippers, he would have successfully joined that incredible trio mentioned above.
Pujols’ Home Run Numbers Compared To Two Hall Of Famers
Pujols has hit so many homers that the stats of some Hall of Famers pale in comparison to his numbers.

What Bagwell and Guerrero have in total home runs, Pujols has it in pitchers he has homered off of.
It he homers against one different pitcher, he would have done it against 450 different hurlers: that would also be a cool feat for him to achieve.
He is focused on getting to 700.
It’s not as easy as it sounds: he mostly plays against lefties these days, and has enjoyed enormous success in that lefty-killer role (.881 OPS).
Pujols has been on fire since the All-Star break, and if he continues at his current pace, he has a chance to make history.
