FORT COLLINS, Colo. – Colorado State men’s golf has added Chris Babcock as the new assistant coach, head coach Michael Wilson announced today.
“I’m extremely excited to welcome Chris Babcock to the Colorado State men’s golf family,” Wilson said. “During my time coaching him at Washington, Chris always stood out to me as a leader. He has the ability to bring people together and create a competitive, yet fun environment. He knows what a great culture looks and feels like and is not afraid to work hard, compete hard, dream big and bring others along with him. He’ll be able to work well with the team and help them through his time and experience both as a former college golfer, tour professional and PGA Tour caddie.”
“I am thrilled to be joining the Colorado State men’s golf team as the assistant coach!” Babcock said. “I want to thank the CSU athletic department and head coach Michael Wilson for giving me this special opportunity. The CSU golf program has a rich history of success and I look forward to using my experience to build on that tradition. We will have fun, work hard, and we will win! GO RAMS!”
Babcock brings professional golf experience to the Rams, having played professionally on PGA Tour Canada for three years upon graduation and also spending a year as a PGA Tour caddy for former collegiate teammate CT Pan. He also qualified for the 2018 US Open at Shinnecock Hills in Southampton, NY, on Long Island.
A four-year letterwinner at the University of Washington from 2012-16, Babcock had four top-10 finishes in his collegiate career, including earning co-medalist honors at UCLA’s Gifford Collegiate. As a Husky, he played in 26 career tournaments when Wilson was an assistant coach in Seattle from 2014-17. In earning his Bachelor of Arts in communication, he was named a Cleveland Golf/Srixon Golf Coaches Association of America All-American Scholar his senior year and was the men’s golf representative on the Washington Student-Athlete Advisory Council.
