(ANSA) – ROME, AUG 23 – AS Roma beat Cremonese at the Olimpico Monday night to stay with Serie A leaders Napoli and Inter, all with six points from the first two games of the season.
Cremonese stayed joint last with no points.
A header from 32-year-old former Man Utd and ex-England central defender Chris Smalling was enough to win the Giallorossi the points in Rome.
Roma have lost the services of rising star Italy midfielder Nicolò Zaniolo who put his shoulder out in the first half and was taken off. He will be out for three to four weeks.
In the other Monday night game Juventus drew 0-0 at Samdoria to join Atalanta, AC Milan, Fiorentina, Lazio and Torino in joint second on four points, with one win and one draw.
Champions Milan have scored five goals and conceded three, compared to free-scoring Napoli, who came third last term and have nine goals for and two against in their two matches.
Inter, who came second behind their city rivals a year after lifting the scudetto themselves, have scored five and let in one goal.
Roma, with two one-nil wins, is thus third in the table on goal difference behind Napoli, top, and Inter, second. (ANSA).
