Moose Jaw Soccer Association has opened registration for the fall – DiscoverMooseJaw.com

Registration has officially opened for residents to sign up for indoor soccer with the Moose Jaw Soccer Association.

This year, people can choose whether to play recreationally or competitively.

“We’ve actually separated it into grassroots which is our recreational. It’ll be coached by volunteer coaches… There’s no game outside the club, it’ll all be against players within their same age group. We’ve also spent now this year to have our FC program being dedicated to more competitive play. So, coaches will have further training than what they do in grassroots section of it. They will be able to go take part in tournaments outside of the club,” says Danielle Donnelly, acting Chair, Treasurer, and coach with the Moose Jaw Soccer Association.

Tryouts won’t be a requirement for anyone looking to sign up.

Donnelly says, “Anybody who joins grassroots, it’s just one big group. But for the FC portion of it because we are just kind of growing again and we’ve had a couple years of not really doing tournaments and games… There won ‘t be any tryouts. It’s geared towards people who want to learn more about soccer who are more passionate and who would like to advance in potentially either getting college scholarships or potentially playing for national teams.”

Also, for the first time ever, the association will be participating in the Celtics camp from November 21st to 26th.

“(This) is something we get to do with our partnership with Celtics FC in Glasgow (Scotland)… We have it scheduled for three coaches to come down,” says Donnelly.

Residents 3-years-old and older can register for grassroots and anyone aged 9 years or older can sign up for the FD program through the associations website.

Early bird registration which offers discounted registration fees is open until Sept. 16th. Regular registration is open from Sept. 17th to Sept. 30th.
