EPHRAIM, Ex. — Drayson Ball has been hired as the Director of Sports Information at Snow College, the School’s Athletic Department announced Monday.
Ball joins the Badgers after serving as the Sports Information Assistant at Utah Tech University (UTU), formerly Dixie State University, where he aided in the school’s transition to Division I in the fall of 2020.
“I couldn’t be more thrilled to be hired to this position,” Ball said. “The opportunity to return to the area I consider home and serve at my alma mater as the [Sports Information Director] is incredible. It truly is a dream come true. I want to thank all of those on the hiring committee as well as the entire Athletic Department for giving me this incredible opportunity. I look forward to working with everyone on the talented staff as well as serving and edifying the community.”
During his time as the Sports Information Assistant, Ball took full responsibility and served as the primary media contact for the women’s volleyball team as well as the men’s and women’s cross country teams.
Ball wore many hats while at UTU, both as an employee and as an intern, most notable of which was serving as the radio and TV color commentator for football and women’s basketball games during the 2018 and 2019 seasons. In addition, Ball also provided public address at home baseball, softball, men’s and women’s soccer, women’s volleyball, and men’s basketball games.
As an intern at UTU, Ball was responsible for a variety of aspects to promote the department, including oversight of social media strategies and content, athletics website maintenance, graphic design, and writing press releases. Ball also co-hosted a weekly UTU highlight/game analysis show called Trailblazer Weekly for three seasons.
Ball graduated from UTU in 2018 with a Bachelor’s Degree in Media Studies and a minor in Spanish. As a student, Ball was appointed Sports Editor for the Dixie Sun News, the school’s student-run newspaper, where he was responsible for assigning stories to sports writers, maintaining the sports tab of the website, and providing the layout of the sports page for the weekly printed newspaper.
Before attending UTU, Ball graduated from Snow College with an Associate’s of Arts Degree. Ball wrote for the Snowdrift under the direction of Sandra Cox. He also wrote local sports recap stories for the Sanpete Messenger under the direction of Suzanne Dean.
Ball is a native of Sanpete County and grew up in Gunnison where he attended Gunnison Valley High School and graduated in 2010. After graduation, Ball served a two-year service mission for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints in Merida, Mexico . Ball’s wife of seven years, Jaleesa, is also an alumna of Snow College, graduating in 2012. The two are the proud parents of a one-year old son.
