Andre Drummond: When I retire, I’ll retire as the best rebounder of all time in the NBA

Since coming to the NBA in 2012, Andre Drummond has been known for being a specialist rebounder, both on offense and defense.

Every basketball fan knows that’s his greatest strength and so he does.

He has made that very clear when talking to CT Insider’s Mike Anthony.

“I think I’m already among the greatest. When I retire, I’ll retire as the greatest rebounder of all time, if I’m not already,” the Chicago Bulls center, who signed a two-year, 6.6 million-dollar-per-season contract with the Bulls on June 30.

He currently ranks 46th on the NBA’s all-time rebounding chart because he has caught 9,519 balls.

He is still a long way from being near the top, but he is confident of becoming the all-time leader. However, on the rebounds per game list, he ranks 11th with 13.3.

The New York native is the all-time leader in one statistic in particular, catching balls while on the court.

In this section, Drummond has an impressive 24.7%, a figure that places him above other great rebounders such as Dennis Rodman or Shaquille O’Neal.

Of course, his rebounding percentage was not measured when men like Bill Russell and Wilt Chamberlain were playing.

His role in recent seasons has become less and less important in the teams he has played for, but Drummond wants to extend his NBA career for more years.

The two-time All-Star has led the NBA in rebounding four times and has only dipped below 10 rebounds per game in two seasons.

We’ll see if he can close the gap on the players ahead of him on the all-time leaderboard this season, because he’s going to be Nikola Vucevic‘s understudy.
