The Indian smartphone market, despite its slowdown, has a slew of new launches lined up for August. As the new month kicks off, there are a number of new smartphones that are tipped to launch in India this month. From flagship smartphones to foldable phones and value-centric ones, the smartphones launching in India and around the world this month have an interesting mix — catering to nearly every segment of buyers. The devices would do well to help revive the smartphone industry from its mid-year slump, as it leads up to the festive season and end-of-year launches. Without further ado, here are the smartphones that are launching this month.
OnePlus 10T
Possibly one of the most awaited smartphones on this list, the OnePlus 10T is launching globally and in India on August 3rd. The smartphone is the mid-life refresh of OnePlus’ flagship smartphone series and is expected to offer a premium design and build quality, along with flagship-grade specifications. It could be priced in the premium segment since OnePlus has diversified its smartphone range and caters to the mid-range segment with other devices.
The OnePlus 10T is expected to be powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Plus Gen 1 SoC, along with up to 16GB RAM and 512GB storage. It is expected to come with a full HD 6.7-inch AMOLED display with a 120Hz refresh rate, a 50MP triple rear camera, and a 16MP front camera setup. Other key features expected in the smartphone include a 4,800mAh battery with a 150W fast charging standard. The smartphone is expected to be launched in India at around Rs 50,000.
iQOO 9T
iQOO, which is a sister brand alongside OnePlus in the BBK Electronics portfolio, has launched its own flagship smartphone offering just ahead of the OnePlus 10T. Like the latter, the iQOO 9T is a premium smartphone and therefore comes with flagship-grade specifications.
The iQOO 9T key specifications include Snapdragon 8+ Gen1 chipset, 50MP primary camera, Android 12 OS, a 120Hz AMOLED display with FHD+ resolution, and a 16MP selfie snapper on the front. The phone’s pricing in India starts from Rs 49,999.
Motorola Razr 2022
The Moto Razr 2022 is unlikely to launch in India this week itself, although its global launch during an event in China is expected to take place today, ie August 2nd. This year, Motorola could likely showcase an improvement in its hinge durability design, while an overall improvement in terms of its folding and outside display specifications is also expected.
According to reports, the Moto Razr 2022 is tipped to become the first foldable phone in the world to run on the Snapdragon 8 Plus Gen 1 SoC and come with 18GB RAM and 512GB storage options as well — which could well outpace flagship phones, at least good paper Once unfolded, the smartphone will reportedly have a 6.67-inch full HD+ OLED display — with its size being in line with what you would expect from modern-day smartphones. On the outside, a 2.65-inch external OLED display would offer a larger secondary display on the clamshell folding phone design.
Battery specs are not known as yet, but the Moto Razr 2022 is expected to feature a 50MP dual camera setup. Prices of the smartphone have not been announced yet, although it is likely to charge a premium for its folding design.
Moto Edge X30 Pro
The more regular flagship phone from Moto, the Edge X30 Pro, is also expected to be launched by Motorola at the event in China. The smartphone is tipped to launch in global markets with a different name, although its initial unveiling is likely to happen in the Edge X30 Pro avatar.
In terms of specifications, the smartphone could be powered by the Snapdragon 8 Plus Gen 1 SoC, along with 12GB RAM and 256GB storage. The device could get a large 6.73-inch full HD+ AMOLED display with a 144Hz refresh rate, and its highlight is tipped to be a 200MP Samsung image sensor as part of its triple rear camera setup. Not much else is known yet about the phone, but it is tipped to cost upwards of Rs 70,000 in India once it is launched.
Infinix Hot 12 Pro
On the budget end of things is the Infinix Hot 12 Pro, which is set to launch alongside the OnePlus 10T on Flipkart on August 3rd. The smartphone will clearly be a mid-budget segment device, which is hinted at by its specifications sheet.
According to reports, the Infinix Hot 12 Pro features a 6.6-inch HD+ display with a 90Hz refresh rate. So far, there is no clarity on which chipset it will be powered by, or its RAM and storage variants. The smartphone promises to offer a 50MP dual rear camera setup, as well as a 5,000mAh battery with 18W fast charging. More details will be revealed once the smartphone is unveiled in India later this week, including its price tag.
Realme GT Neo 3T
While the Realme GT Neo 3T has already been launched globally, the smartphone is expected to arrive in India later this month. While confirmation of the launch date is yet to come, the smartphone is tipped to launch in India on August 8th.
The smartphone comes with the Qualcomm Snapdragon 870 SoC, along with up to 8GB RAM and 256GB storage. It has a 6.62-inch full HD+ AMOLED 120Hz display, along with a 64MP triple rear camera and a 16MP front camera as well. It also has a 5,000mAh battery with 80W fast charging. The smartphone’s previous version, the Realme GT Neo 3, costs Rs 42,999 in India right now, so it’s likely that the GT Neo 3T could cost similar as well.
Samsung Galaxy Z Fold4
Samsung’s latest generation foldable phone is tipped to be launched on August 10th, showcasing new innovations that the company has managed to achieve in its foldable phone design. Given that all generations of the flagship foldable smartphone from Samsung have been launched in India so far, the Z Fold 4 is also expected to come to India.
The new generation foldable smartphone is tipped to feature a 7.6-inch foldable AMOLED display with a 120Hz refresh rate, and the external display is also expected to get a fast refresh rate, with a 6.2-inch display size. Rumors also state that the Z Fold 4 will get a built-in S-Pen slot as well, but word on that has been conflicting.
In terms of performance, the Galaxy Z Fold 4 gets a Snapdragon 8 Plus Gen 1 SoC, with up to 16GB of RAM and 1TB of internal storage. On the outside, the smartphone could get a 50MP dual camera setup, while both the internal and external displays could get under-display cameras. The device could get a 4,400mAh battery, with 25W fast charging as well. The flagship foldable phone will still likely cost as much as its previous version, which costs up to Rs 1,47,999 in India right now.
Samsung Galaxy Z Flip 4
The final entrant in the list, the more affordable Galaxy Z Flip 4 is also expected to be part of the phones being unveiled later this month. The smartphone is expected to get a 6.7-inch full-HD AMOLED folding display with a 120Hz refresh rate and a 1.9-inch external display for previews of the camera and music playback control. It is expected to get the Snapdragon 8 Plus Gen 1 SoC, with 12GB of RAM and 256GB of storage. It could also get 50MP dual cameras and a similar battery configuration as the Z Fold 4. While there is no word on the prices, the smartphone could cost in line with what the previous generation Z Flip smartphone was priced at.
