Leicester City announce that forward Jamie Vardy has signed a new contract at the King Power Stadium, despite speculation regarding his future.
Leicester City have announced that Jamie Vardy has signed a new contract at the King Power Stadium.
The forward has enjoyed a legendary career with the East Midlands outfit, helping fire the Foxes to the most surprising of Premier League titles in 2015-16.
During a decade-long stint with Leicester, the 35-year-old has contributed 164 goals and 64 assists from 387 appearances in all competitions.
However, there have recently been suggestions that Vardy may be on the move with less than 12 months remaining on his deal at a time when Brendan Rodgers‘s squad appears to be one in transition.
Manchester United have allegedly been monitoring the situation as they look to add another striker to their ranks before the end of the summer transfer window.

Vardy is no longer an option for Erik ten Haghowever, with Leicester revealing on Saturday morning that the former England international has extended his stay at the club until 2024.
Speaking to the club’s official website, Vardy said: “I’m obviously over the moon. Once I heard it was something the club was looking at, there was only one thing that was going to happen, and I was going to sign it. The decision was easy.
“I’ve been here long enough now that I feel like part of the furniture. I think you can see with the way we’re trying to play, the way the club’s wanting to go, that it’s going to be onwards and upwards. “
Despite competition from the likes of Kelechi Iheanacho duck Patson DakaVardy has retained his spot in Leicester’s starting lineup for the opening two Premier League fixtures of the season.
However, his side let slip a two-goal advantage against Brentford on the first weekend of the campaign before losing 4-2 against Arsenal at the Emirates Stadium.
Leicester are currently preparing to face Southampton on Saturday afternoon with speculation remaining over another of their key players.
Wesley Fofana has allegedly requested to be left out of the squad with Chelsea heavily reported to have had at least two bids rejected by Leicester’s hierarchy.
Rodgers is yet to make a first-team addition this summer, a consequence of the club’s limited finances and first having to reduce the numbers in his first-team squad.
