GOLF enthusiasts traveled from across the country to compete at an all day charity challenge event in Kidderminster which was also attempting to raise funds for Kemp Hospice at the same time.
The competition was organized by UK Container Maintenance and attracted a field of 65 players, which comprised of 18 teams who teed off together at Kidderminster Golf Club.
Most of the players taking part were both former and current customers of UKCM.
Pride of place went to waste management company Grundon who took the team prize while Alan Smith from Colchester Skip Hire claimed the individual prize which was presented by former Olympic athlete Derek Redmond together with organizer Andrew Malone.
A total of £1,000 was obtained from the event for Kemp Hospice who offer specialist care and support to those affected by both life limiting illnesses and bereavement.
Mark Roberts, who is the technical director at UKCM who repairs and refurbish containers, said: “The day was a huge success and the perfect opportunity to raise much needed funds and awareness for such a worthy cause.
“We received some fantastic feedback about the event from the players that joined us from across the length and breadth of the country and it’s certainly something that we will be looking to host on an annual basis”.
Mr Roberts was backed up in his praise of the event by Emma Elston MBE who is the CEO at UKCM and added: “We had a brilliant day raising money for charity. We are very passionate about supporting charity and following the success of this year’s event, we look forward to the next one.
“The Kemp Hospice is a truly remarkable organization that offers specialist care and services to patients, families and carers who are dealing with life limiting illnesses and bereavement. We are proud to support them.”
