Bedford boys golf team picks up two wins; CC’s Semelsberger medals | News, Sports, Jobs

EBENSBURG — Central Cambria’s Austin Semelsberger was the medalist as the Red Devils split two contests at Ebensburg Country Club on Friday in high school boys golf.

Central Cambria lost to Bedford, 206-213, and defeated Northern Cambria, 213-248.

Josh Topper’s 40 led the Bisons, who beat NC, 206-248, and Brady Houser’s 44 was best for the Colts.

BEDFORD (206): Topper 40, Edwards 41, Davidson 41, Semanek 41, Ruffley 43.

CENTRAL CAMBRIA (213): Semelsberger 39, Benko 41, Cuppett 43, Muldoon 45, Vrabel 45.

NORTHERN CAMBRIA (248): B. Houser 44, Blickenderfer 48, Kirsch 50, T. Houser 53, Cavallo 53

Records: Central Cambria (1-1); Bedford (2-0); Northern Cambria (1-2).

Altoona third

SELINSGROVE — The Altoona Area high school boys golf team took third place out of 20 teams in the Selinsgrove Invitational Tournament.

The Lions were led by Trent Meyers with a 79. Krieghoff Cumming added an 85, and Daniel Batrus and Sean Eakins each carded an 86.

Meyers placed seventh overall in the individual tournament.

The tournament was held at Susquehanna Valley Country Club.

Homan captures the title

Todd Homan captured the Park Hills Club Championship after needing four playoff holes to defeat Terry Burd.

The four leaders going into the final day of action were Homan, Burd, Todd Johnson and Patrick Miller. Homan and Bird were tied at 149 before going to the four playoff holes.

On the ladies side, Jessica Burlingame shot a two-day total of 159 to take home the club championship.
