Before they became NBA superstars, they were just high schoolers like the rest of us. Find out if you are smarter than a high school LeBron, Steph, and other NBA stars.
LeBron James and Steph Curry’s GPA
LeBron James and Steph Curry were both born in Akron, Ohio. The King eventually enrolled in St. Vincent-Saint Mary High School, while Chef Curry studied at Charlotte Christian High School. James had a 3.5 GPA, which was impressive but dipped to 2.8 later. LeBron played both basketball and football during that time before eventually choosing the former. All those extra-curricular activities could have played a part in why his academic performance suffered a bit.

On the other hand, Curry had a 2.5 GPA in high school and was also heavily involved in basketball activities at that time after being named an all-conference and all-state player. For comparison, Ben Simmons had a 1.8 GPA while JaVale McGee recorded a 4.5 GPA.
Who would have thought that these two average high-schoolers would change the game of basketball forever with their brilliant and genius minds? LeBron James was often praised for his vision on the court, knowing other teams’ plays even before they happened. Steph Curry also changed the game with his marksmanship in the 3-point area. Of course, we could have lost them to another profession if these two registered higher GPAs, so basketball fans should be grateful LeBron and Steph chose basketball above all else.
Smartest NBA players
Who were the smartest NBA players? Intelligence cannot be measured by grades or degrees alone, but it helps prove that some players are brighter than others. Jeremy Lin is considered one of the smartest after graduating from Harvard with a degree in Economics. He maintained a 3.1 GPA while studying there.
Jaylen Brown almost didn’t make it to the NBA because he was too bright. The Boston Celtics forward took a master-level class during his first year in college. Brown was also a chess team member and could speak fluent Spanish. Jaylen later revealed his other interests, such as history, meditation, and philosophy.
Rajon Rondo is also one of the smartest players around. When he was younger, his teachers admitted that his mind was ahead of his classmates. A math teacher allegedly devised a special exam to keep the mind of young Rondo busy. Rajon loves math and teaches algebra in schools for fun.
