Men’s Soccer Set for Preseason Finale Versus ETSU at Rhodes Stadium

ELON, NC – The Elon University men’s soccer team is set to host East Tennessee State University under the lights in Rhodes Stadium for its final preseason tune-up on Sunday evening, Aug. 21 with kickoff scheduled for 7 pm

“Our guys are looking forward to playing in Rhodes Stadium as part of freshman orientation,” said Elon head coach Marc Reeves. “It should be a great atmosphere for our final preseason game. We hope we perform well and students come back for the home opener at Rudd Field Sept. 3 versus Northeastern.”

MATCH PROMOTIONS

• To celebrate Elon Move-In this weekend, students are encouraged to attend the match as there will be a tailgate prior to the match beginning at 6:45 pm
• A pep rally featuring the Elon football and volleyball teams will take place during halftime of the match.

LEHM, VIDEBAEK NAMED 2022 PRESEASON ALL-CAA; PHOENIX TABBED THIRD

• Senior defenders Kasper Lehm and Jannik Videbaek were selected to the 2022 Preseason All-CAA team as voted on by the league coaches on Aug. 16.
• Lehm was a second team All-CAA selection in 2021 after finishing third on the team in total points with eight and pacing the squad in assists with six.
• Videbaek earned second team All-CAA laurels and was named to the CAA All-Tournament Team after helping the maroon and gold reach the CAA final for the first time last fall.
• Elon was predicted to finish third in the 10-team, 2022 CAA Preseason poll, behind defending league champion Hofstra and UNCW. The Pride received 81 total points and nine first-place votes while UNCW had 61 points to edge out the Phoenix, who tallied 59 points in the poll. Northeastern (55 points) and Drexel (53 points and one first-place vote) rounded out the top five.

2021 RECAP

• The Phoenix is ​​coming off a 9-8-2 ledger during the 2021 fall season and advanced to the CAA Championship final for the first time in school history.
• Elon returns 21 players and seven starters in 2022 including All-CAA performers Kasper Lehm and Jannik Videbaek. The maroon and gold also welcomes back a pair of CAA All-Rookie team players Calle Edelstam and Scott Vatne.
• Reeves begins his sixth season as the head coach of the Phoenix. He holds an overall career record of 106-78-33.

UP NEXT

• Elon opens its 2022 campaign in a tournament at Duke University as the Phoenix faces Milwaukee on Friday, Aug. 26. Scheduled kickoff for that match is slated for 5 pm at Koskinen Stadium.
