The 2022 NFL season is scheduled to kick off on Thursday, September 8, in Los Angeles where the Rams will host the Buffalo Bills.
Four afternoon games will take place on Sunday, September 11, as Kansas City while visiting Arizona Las Vegas travel to Los Angeles to face the Chargers.
Meanwhile, Green Bay play away at Minnesota and Tennessee hosts the New York Giants on the same day. Later on Sunday, the Dallas Cowboys will host the Tampa Bay Buccaneers and one day later, the Denver Broncos will travel to Seattle to face the Seahawks.
Five international games
The NFL also announced that five regular-season games will be played abroad, as the UK will host three duels, Germany will get their first ever NFL game and one will take place in Mexico.
“The international series kicks off with games on back-to-back weekends at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium in London, as New Orleans and Minnesota meet in Week 4 (9:30 AM ET, NFL Network) followed by Green Bay and the New York Giants in Week 5 (9:30 AM ET, NFL Network),” read the NFL press release.
“The first international game on the 2022 schedule will mark the 100th game in league history (preseason and regular-season combined) played outside the United States.
“In Week 8 (9:30 AM ET, ESPN+), the London action shifts to Wembley Stadium, where the Jacksonville Jaguars will face the Denver Broncos. In Week 10 (9:30 AM ET, NFL Network), the first-ever regular-season NFL game in Germany will take place at Allianz Arena – Home of FC Bayern Munich between Tampa Bay and Seattle.
“The 2022 international slate wraps up with a return to Mexico City in Week 11 on Monday Night Football (8:15 PM ET, ESPN) with a matchup between NFC West rivals San Francisco and Arizona at Estadio Azteca.”
How many games will each NFL team play?
For the second year in a row, NFL teams will play a total of 20 games each, including 17 regular-season matches, as well as three preseason duels.
