Dell announces that the new Dell XPS 13 2-in-1 convertible laptop and Webcam Pro will be available soon. The convertible notebook is said to be the manufacturer’s most versatile XPS model to date and features an impressive 3K display.
Dell XPS 13 2-in-1 in detail
Visually, the new Dell XPS 13 2-in-1, which the manufacturer launched in June, is somewhat reminiscent of Microsoft’s Surface Pro. It is a strong convertible notebook with a simple and elegant design and also has a lot to offer under the hood.
The XPS 13 2-in-1 is powered by 12th generation Intel Core processors, whereby you can choose between an Intel Core i5 1230U with 10 cores and a clock rate of 4.4 GHz or the higher clocked i7 1250U (4.7 GHz).
In addition, there is a choice of 8 GB or 16 GB LPDDR4x working memory in dual-channel mode with a clock rate of 4,266 MHz, as well as a 256 GB, 512 GB or 1 TB SSD with PCIe 4 x4 connection.
The slim case is made of CNC aluminum, 292.5 mm wide and 201.2 mm high. The XPS 13 2-in-1 is a maximum of 7.8 mm thick when a 5G modem is installed. The Wi-Fi model turns out a bit slimmer at 7.4 mm and a bit lighter with a weight of 736 grams (compared to 811g).
Display and features
For the display, Dell relies on a 13-inch touch panel in a 3:2 format that comes with a resolution of 2,880 x 1,920 pixels. It gets a maximum of 500 nits brightness and is therefore certified according to VESA DisplayHDR 400.
Furthermore, the sRGB color space is covered by a full 100 percent, while the contrast ratio is specified at 1,800:1. The display is also protected against scratches by Gorilla Glass, supports Dolby Vision and Eyesafe technology.
The separately available XPS Stylus, which makes typing much easier, is also optionally supported. Windows 11 is used as the operating system, optionally in the Home or Pro variant.
The battery capacity is 49.5 Wh, and it is charged via USB Type-C with the help of the included 45-watt power adapter. There is also optional 5G connectivity, otherwise Intel Killer Wi Fi 6E 1675 (AX211) (2×2) and Bluetooth 5.2 are available as wireless standards.
In addition, there are speakers that are supposed to realize studio quality according to the manufacturer and support MaxxAudio Pro as well as Waves Nx 3D Audio. A dual microphone array also promises good intelligibility during video conferences and phone calls.
In addition, there is a 1080p webcam that also supports logging in via Windows Hello. The rear-facing camera also has a resolution of 11 megapixels and allows video recordings in 4K quality. There is also a fingerprint sensor.
Combined with the optional Dell XPS Folio, the tablet becomes a true laptop in seconds. Includes a full-size backlit keyboard.
Dell Pro webcam with QHD resolution
Fittingly, the manufacturer also presents the Dell Pro Webcam, which is equipped with a Sony Starvis sensor and has a maximum resolution of QHD. The maximum frame rate here is 30 fps. Even 60 fps is possible in Full HD or 720p.
A quadruple digital zoom, auto-focus, auto-framing and many other exciting features are also offered. The field of view is 65 and 78 degrees, while the aperture of f/2.0 is quite fast. The webcam is connected via USB-A.
Digital Overlap HDR (DOL-HDR) is also said to provide lifelike colors in extreme lighting conditions, while 3D and 2D noise reduction further enhances image quality.
Prices and Availability
The Dell Pro Webcam is available now directly from the manufacturer’s online store and comes in at a price of 128 euros. The Dell XPS 13 2-in-1 laptop, on the other hand, is supposed to be offered starting August 25, but the pricing is not yet known here.
