Wexford daycare center gets a visit from Jerry Fish and the mobile music machine

BUNCLODY Care Care Center was the venue for a very special concert event recently when it played host to a visit from the Mobile Music Machine (MMM).

he initiative first started performing during the lockdown and has grown in popularity in the interim.

This time around it featured Lynda O’Connor (violin), Gerald Peregrine (cello) and Feargal Murray (keyboard).

It wasn’t the first time the initiative visited the center but this time around the very special guest was the legendary Irish songwriter and theatrical showman, Jerry Fish.

The day care supervisor, Maria Breen, spoke to the Enniscorthy Guardian about the event and said it was a great success.

“It was absolutely brilliant and the musicians are so good,” she said.

“Jerry Fish was excellent with the people too and the way he interacted with them was fantastic,” she added.

“It was a really great day and we felt very privileged to have them here.”

The center opened up especially for the event after being contacted by the MMM to see if it would like to be included in the tour schedule.

“He’s a songwriter and poet and he was excellent in how he communicated with the people,” said Maria, referring to the consummate professionalism of Jerry Fish.

The event was very relaxed and with around 40 clients of the center in attendance there was a fantastic atmosphere on the day. The informal nature of the performance also saw the musicians chat with those present over a cup of tea at the end of the event.

The MMM initiative is supported by Creative Ireland and the Department of Tourism, Culture, Arts, Gaeltacht, Sport and Media with the aim of providing access to the arts for all.

It’s also supported by HSE, Health Ireland and Age Friendly Ireland.
