BOSTON –

Casey Brown (COM’10) was formally introduced as the second head coach in Boston University women’s soccer history on Monday afternoon at the program’s kickoff event, held at Nickerson Field.

“This is a homecoming for her, and a monumental occasion for all of us (at BU),” said Director of Athletics Drew Marrochello at the event. “I know we share the same ideals and goals for this program… The characteristics that she has always exhibited and the success that she has had are the reasons we wanted her to return here.”

Brown, a four-time all-conference selection and three-time all-region pick as a player, guided the Terriers to three of the team’s 13 conference tournament championships from 2007-09. In 2007, she was named the America East Championship’s Most Outstanding Player, and was the first woman in America East soccer history to be named the top player at her position three times.

“I have nothing but immense pride and gratitude to be here,” remarked Brown. “This place is home to me. BU is home… This is a place that helped shape me (through) different sprints, goals scored, and championships won… This is where it happened. To just come full-circle and stand here (at Nickerson Field) means everything to me.

Brown’s second tenure with the Terriers was as an assistant under her playing coach and predecessor, Nancy Feldman. While serving on Feldman’s staff, Brown helped the Terriers claim three Patriot League titles from 2013-15. BU advanced to the second round of the NCAA Tournament in 2013 and 2015, becoming the first Patriot League school to win multiple NCAA Tournament contests.

Prior to taking the helm at BU, Brown made stops as a head coach at fellow Patriot League school Holy Cross and, most recently, Penn. As head coach, she developed nine All-League honorees in her last two seasons of competition.

The kickoff event concludes the 2022 preseason for the Terriers, which began with the first practice on Aug. 2. Last weekend, the team continued a preseason tradition with a team bonding retreat, which took place at Camp Skylemar in Maine.

BU ignites its 28th varsity campaign when it hosts crosstown rival Northeastern on Thursday (Aug. 18) at 7 p.m. The Terriers also host Providence this Sunday (Aug. 21) at 6 p.m.
