In addition to the regular editions, Samsung also offers a Golf Edition of the Galaxy Watch 5 and Galaxy Watch 5 Pro with exclusive features.
Alongside the Galaxy Watch 5 and Galaxy Watch 5 Pro, Samsung also announced a Galaxy Watch 5 Golf Edition. Samsung has been making Golf Edition versions of its smartwatches for a while now. For example, the Galaxy Watch Active2 had a golf edition, and so did 2021’s Galaxy Watch 4 series. However, the latter was exclusive to Korea.
Some watch manufacturers are known to make watches that cater specifically to certain professions or sports. A perfect example is Garmin, whose lineup of watches includes models designed for running, diving, golfing, swimming, and even those in the aviation industry.
The Samsung Galaxy Watch 5 Golf Edition series is made for golf enthusiasts, and it shows in its design, which is slightly different from that of the standard edition. The watch has a black bezel, a gray case with a green primary button instead of red and a two-tone black and white band. There are also exclusive watch faces not available on the standard edition.
The Golf Edition Costs More
The Galaxy Watch 5 Golf Edition is not only different on the outside but also different on the inside, sort of. It comes with unlimited membership on the Smart Caddy app. The app, which has a guide to over 40,000 golf courses across the globe, allows users to pinpoint their exact location using detailed distance measurements. Users can input their strokes and putts right from the watch screen. And at the end of the round, it will show the user their total score and provide an option to view an analysis of their performance on their smartphone.
Save for these differences, the rest of the specs and features are the same as what is available on the standard edition. In addition, although Samsung ships the Galaxy Watch 5 Golf Edition with the Smart Caddie app pre-installed, those who purchase the standard edition can download the app from the Play Store. However, they won’t get the free membership bundled with the golf edition.
The Samsung Galaxy Watch 5 series Golf Edition is available in three sizes — Galaxy Watch 5 Golf Edition Large, Galaxy Watch 5 Golf Edition Small and Galaxy Watch 5 Pro Golf Edition. Pricing starts at $329 for the base model with Bluetooth, which is a $50 markup from the standard version, which starts at $279. Unfortunately, Unlike the standard version already available for pre-order on Samsung’s website, the Galaxy Watch 5 Golf Edition isn’t available to pre-order yet.
