Korda Sportswoman Of The Year Finalist | LPGA

As it does on an annual basis, the Women’s Sports Foundation has come out with a list of finalists for the annual Sportswoman of the Year award. This year, LPGA Tour star Nelly Korda is listed alongside fellow Olympic and Paralympic gold medalists Katie Ledecky, Chloe Kim, Erin Jackson, Sunisa Lee, Jessica Long, Sydney McLaughlin, Oksana Masters and Tamyra Mensah-Stock. Like the rest of those athletes, Korda has reached the top of her sport on an international stage, winning the gold medal at the Tokyo 2020 Games, and climbing to No.1 in the Rolex Rankings for a time after her major championship win at the 2021 KPMG Women’s PGA Championship.

Like Ledecky, who is listed among the greatest female swimmers who ever lived, Korda comes from a family of athletes. Her father and mother were both professional tennis players, with her father reaching No.2 in the world after capturing the 1998 Australian Open singles title. Korda’s older sister Jessica is a six-time winner of the LPGA Tour, and the youngest sibling, Sabastian, is currently the No.52-ranked male tennis player in the world.

In addition to Olympic gold, Nelly has seven LPGA Tour titles to her credit, including four in 2021. She was the Golf Writers Association of America female player of the year last year, among other accolades.

Voting for Sports Woman of the Year is currently underway and will continue until August 22.
