What is NFL Plus? What does it cost? What does it include? Can you get it on regular cable TV and is it worth the extra money? We hope to answer more than a few of those questions and give readers a better idea of what NFL+ offers viewers that is worth shelling out the extra cash for a reasonably cheap subscription. Whether you’re a football junkie looking to supplement the local broadcasts or watch replays of your favorite teams, NFL+ is a great and cost-effective way to do that, especially during the 2022 NFL preseason.
What is NFL Plus?
NFL+ is a new streaming service created by the NFL and is available exclusively through the NFL app as a way to bring more football content to fans. However, NFL+ it isn’t made available through your local cable provider. Cable and satellite packages from companies like Comcast/Xfinity, Verizon, Frontier and DirecTV don’t offer NFL Plus because the service is a direct-to-consumer platform, which helps keep the cost low.
NFL Plus used to be called “NFL Game Pass” but that service has gone away, been rebranded by the league and re-tooled to what is now being called NFL Plus.
How much does ESPN Plus cost?
NFL+ is providing fans with two cost-effective plans in order to entice viewers and build a viewership for the new streaming service. Currently, you can watch watch every game of the NFL preseason for FREE with NFL+ (free trial) to try things out. After your free trial ends, NFL+ costs just $4.99/month ($29.99/year) for the base plan, or $9.99/month for the Premium Plan ($79.99/year). It’s a great deal if you buy a 1-month plan that lets you watch every preseason game live, or you can watch on demand game replays and condensed ad-free with Premium. So, for under $10 you can try out NFL+ Premium for a month and see if it works for you and cancel anytime if not.

What does NFL+ include?
As we mentioned above, NFL Plus has the base plan ($4.99/month) and the Premium plan ($9.99/month), and both options have a lot to offer depending on what you need, or want to have available now and during the regular season.
The NFL+ base plan includes access to stream live video of out-of-market NFL preseason games as well as live local and primetime regular season & postseason games on your phone or tablet through the NFL app. You also get live audio for every game in case you can’t watch but want to listen while your favorite teams play and more exclusive video and written content.
As for the NFL+ premium plan, you get a little bit more with the expanded service plan, which includes
• Live out-of-market preseason games
• Live local and primetime Regular Season & Postseason games on your phone or tablet
• Live game audio for every game
• Full game replays across devices (ad-free)
• Condensed game replays across devices (ad-free)
• Coaches Film
• More exclusive video and written content
Can I get NFL+ on my TV, or is it just on phones and computers?
NFL Plus is not a TV channel, so you will have to access it through the NFL app. Unfortunately, NFL+ will not be available through the NFL app on Smart TVs or through streaming sticks and other streaming devices at this time. Currently, streaming preseason and regular season games will only be available on your phone or tablet through the NFL app with an NFL+ subscription whether it is the base plan or premium planbut this could change in the future.
Is NFL+ worth the money?
Of course, it always depends on how big of a fan you are and what you really need in terms of access to watching games during the preseason and regular season. Right now, it is very difficult to watch out-of-market games and especially difficult to do that during the preseason. With that in mind, signing up for an NFL+ free trial and then getting the premium plan for the month of August is a screaming deal at under $10. In this case, you are paying just $9.99 total for the month and would be able to watch every single game of the NFL preseason live, or on demand, without ads before the kickoff of Week 1 of the season. If you are into fantasy football, or just really want to follow your team closely, there is no better way currently than doing so by signing up for NFL Plus.
