Royal Canadian Legion Branch #112 will host its annual golf tournament tomorrow, Saturday, Aug. 13 starting at 2 pm at the Pender Harbor Golf Club. The playing format will be a modified Texas Scramble. Entry is $55 per person, which includes golf, dinner and prizes. Everyone will receive a prize! Power cart rentals are not included in the entry fee. Registrations are accepted at the Legion for golf and dinner. Power carts must be rented at the golf club.

Pender Harbor Music Society’s Midsummer Chamber Music Weekend has arrived with two wonderful concerts for you: Saturday, Aug. 13 at 2 pm the Vetta String Quartet and Sunday, Aug. 14 at 2 pm the Four Jays. A Summer Night Dance Party is just a week away: Friday Aug. 19 with Cannery Row featuring Gary Comeau, Tim Hearsey and Chris Nordquist at the Pender Harbor Community Hall. Proudly presented by the Pender Harbor Blues Society. Doors open at 8 pm Music at 8:30 pm Get out your dancing shoes, practice your best moves and purchase your tickets now, online at www.phblues.ca. Tickets $30.

Fiber Works Studio and Gallery exhibit on to Sept. 11: ‘this place’ celebrates textile artists from three countries. Workshops coming up include ‘Forage,’ wild dye pot with Natalie Grambow Aug. 20 and 21 and ‘Sun Printing’ with Margie Davidson. Slow Sundays each week noon to 4 pm at the Yurts.

Harbor Gallery is nestled in the group of what were once the Forestry buildings in downtown Madeira Park just up from the Millennium Park at the waterfront. This cooperative member-run gallery has a fantastic collection of works in many mediums and many sizes. Come visit any day 11 am to 4 pm and meet one of the artists who might be creating their latest masterpiece!
