High school soccer begins next week and here is a look at some of the top boys players from the area for the 2022 season.
Saleh Alyones, Centennial forward: Alyones scored 21 goals for the Hawks last year as a junior and was named a first-team All State selection.
Eduardo Moreno, Hatch Valley forward: Moreno was 11th in scoring in New Mexico last year as a junior, regardless of classification. Moreno had 60 points with 25 goals and 10 assists.
Julio Coca, Centennial midfielder: Coca was an All District player for the Hawks last season and is a team captain this year.
Evan Kraenzel, Centennial midfielder: Kraenzel had six assists and four goals for the Hawks last year as a freshman.
Kinetzin Huerta-Garcia, Las Cruces midfielder: Huerta-Garcia was an honorable mention All District player for the Bulldawgs last year as a sophomore.
Oscar Valtierra, Organ Mountain midfielder: Valtierra scored nine goals with four assists last year for the Knights as a freshman.
Alejandro Esparza, Mayfield midfielder: Esparza was a holding midfielder last season where he was a second team All District player. He will play a more attacking role this season.
Cristano William, Organ Mountain defender: William was a first-team All District player for the Knights last season and returns to the Knights back line.
Edward Sweetser, Centennial defender: Sweetser was a second team All State selection last year and returns to the middle for the Hawks’ defense.
Wilfredo Ortiz-Macias, Mayfield defender: Ortiz played left midfielder last year, but will move back for the Trojans this season.
Marin Placencia, Gadsden goalkeeper: Plancencia had 63 saves last year, which was the fourth most in district play.
